Caryn Elaine Johnson, also known as Whoopi Goldberg, is arguably one of the most well-known women in Hollywood. As an actress, comedian, author, and television hostess, Whoopi Goldberg has been nominated for 13 Emmy Awards and is one of the few entertainers to have won an Emmy Award, a Grammy Award, an Academy Award, and a Tony Award.
Today, Whoopi hosts the iconic daytime television talk show, The View, where she serves as a diverse voice amongst four other women. Each week day, she appears in the homes across the world to reveal to share her opinions on current events.
But since February 6th, Whoopi has been absent from The View. Finally, on Friday, March 8th, 2019, Whoopi made a rather unexpected announcement admitting what she had been fighting.
Whoopi began, “Hey, yes, it’s me,” she began. “I am here. I am up and moving around — not as fast as I’d like to be, but I am okay. I’m not dead. Here’s what happened.” She then went reveal that she recently suffered pneumonia in both lungs and was septic.
She admitted, “Yes, I came very close to leaving the earth. Good news, I didn’t. Thank you for all of your good wishes, all of the wonderful things that people have been saying. Even people who aren’t huge fans of mine have actually been saying nice thing about me.”
Whoopi continued talking directly to her crew of ladies that she works with every day saying, “Ladies, I cannot wait to see y’all. This has been interesting and I’ll tell you about it when we’re all at the table. To everybody, see you soon.”
During this time, please keep Whoopi in your prayers. Pneumonia can be deadly and it’s so important to get healthy. Pray for a quick and healthy recovery. We wish you well, Whoopi!
