The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge some of the most popular people in the world. As the future King and Queen of England, they’ve been an international topic of conversation for over a decade now. The couple, who have three children together, typically humor fans and photographers by appearing cheerful and inviting, but now they’ve sent a very clear message about the attention they’ve been getting.
Living in Kensington Palace, which is their home and office but also a significant tourist destination, doesn’t help their desire for privacy. And with hundreds of thousands of visitors every month, Will and Kate have finally decided to take matters into their own hands.
In early April 2019, it was noticed that more than 900 feet of new hedging were placed around KP. The purpose of the new hedges was very obvious: privacy.
According to Express, the couple's children, George, Charlotte, and Louis are often spotted outside their iconic palace residence. With their children running around, they decided that privacy was a priority. Express shares that the cost of the new hedging is valued at over $16,000
The new hedge extends far out from Will and Kate’s home, located in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, and will allow for more privacy for the couple, their staff, and their family. This is not the first time William has taken measures into his own hands- William has offered protected the privacy of his family- and it certainly won’t be the last.
Personally, I believe this family should be given respect and privacy. Regardless of their social status, they are still people. William knows first hand the tragedy that such attention can invite (his mother was killed in an accident that included unwanted attention by the paparazzi) and his desires to protect his family is completely understandable. We wish them nothing but space and privacy they believe they need for their family.
