On Wednesday, April 5th, Johnny Valiant, a former WWE Hall of Famer and 2-time World Tag Team champ- was killed. He was crossing the street when he got hit by a passing truck. He was 71-years-old.
Johnny Valiant was his stage name, but his birth name was Tommy Sullivan. Tommy was up early on Wednesday morning when he went out for a morning walk around 5:30 AM in Ross Township, Pennsylvania.
When first responders arrived, they thought he might have a fighting chance. But it wasn’t long after they arrived that his body quickly began shutting down. The responders rushed them to the hospital.
Johnny was a huge name in the 1970’s in wrestling. After his wrestling career, he and his show-stopping brother- “Luscious” Johnny and “Handsome” Jimmy- competed in World Championship Tag Teaming competition. The brothers were a superstar duo in the 1970’s.
After his wrestling career, Johnny continued working in the industry by managing sensations like Hulk Hogan, Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake, Dino Bravo, Demolition, and more. After that, he began working in television. He worked with popular television shows such as “The Sopranos” and “Law & Order.”
Moments after arriving to the hospital, Johnny died. He was 71-years-old.
