Have you ever seen the show, "What Would You Do?" If you haven't, let me tell you about it. It's a show that puts people in situations where they need to act. Hidden cameras record actors as they are performing scenes of conflict or illegal activity, in public settings. The focus of the show is to find out whether or not bystanders will intervene, and what they might do to affect the situation.

This video channels a bit of that show. YouTuber, RobbyTV, is doing a social experiment to find out what people would do if they saw a homeless child on the street. This little girl’s sign says, "Homeless and hungry. Please help."

It's honestly heart-breaking to watch; person after person walks right by the little girl. Most don't even look her way, avoiding any sort of eye contact; it's almost an ‘out-of-sight, out-of-mind’ mentality. I watch this and think, “What would I do if I saw her?” and I silently hope that I would be like the woman who stopped, and gave all she had, to help this young girl.

The woman in the video walks by slowly and reads the sign, but continues to walk on by. A short time later, however, she returns with food and a $20 bill. She then sits down next to the girl to talk with her. That's when Robby lets her in on the secret. The little girl is an actress and he is doing a social experiment. Watch the video, below, to see what happens next.

We hope this video gets you to pause during the hustle-and-bustle of your day, and consider the needs of others. The scene in our video may have been set-up, but none of the passers-by know that; they just continue on, as if nothing is wrong.

Perhaps we simply need to open our eyes, so we can see those in need all around us. Only then may we begin to realize that there is always something we can do to help. Maybe it's a warm blanket or a $20 bill. Whatever it is, the most important thing is to notice those around us in need, and to do our best to help. I'm challenged, are you?
