Teacher Buying Supplies For Her Class When The Man In Line Behind Her Did The Most Remarkable Thing
It's that time of year again. Schools are starting all over the country this week. As the hustle and bustle of getting ready for that first day is still in full effect. We thought you would enjoy this great story that shows that there are still great people in the world.
Growing up, my mom was a 3rd grade teacher. I saw how she worked tirelessly and endlessly to supply for her classroom and her kid's needs. She worked way more hours than people give teachers credit for. Between the time correcting papers, or investing time in talking with her students and providing needs, such as supplies, and always finding ways to be creative with her teaching techniques. A teacher job is never done but it is beyond rewarding. My mom was an incredible teacher and because of that, I always wanted to be a teacher, a 3rd grade teacher to be exact. Like mother like daughter.
So when I saw this story about a teacher who was buying supplies for her students it touched my heart, especially that a man recognizes her efforts and surprised her by paying the bill.
The Texas teacher, Sabrina Drude, was getting ready for the new school year. Her Walmart shopping cart was filled with hundreds of notebooks, pencils, and markers. She had $97 of supplies on the belt as she was checking out.
This kind man sparked a conversation with her. She told him she was a teacher and was buying supplies for kids who wouldn't have what they needed on the first day of school. This touched the man's heart and he told her he would be paying the bill.
Sabrina kindly declined but when it was time to pay, he stepped in between her and the register and insisted on paying, not giving her an option. “Put your wallet away,” he told Sabrina. “I just started crying,” Sabrina recalls. “That’s the sweetest thing I’ve ever heard.”
She continued, “This is exactly the type of person I want to influence my kids to be,” she said, adding that she plans to invite Lester to a class pizza party. “I want him to inspire my kids just like he inspired me if any of my kids grew up to be half the man he is I’d be very proud.” Such a great story! I love how we all play our part in changing the world.
