Rescuers Were Called To Transform A Pony's Life- No One Could Have Prepared Them For What They Saw

When rescuers arrived at a small shack in Belgium, they were shocked to see the deplorable circumstances that a Shetland pony and a thin white horse had been living in. The poor neglected animals had been kept locked up in the shed for at least 3 months, which was quite obvious by the smell and almost 2 feet of manure the animals were standing in.

What was even more shocking, was the length of the pony's hooves! Animaux en PĂ©ril, a sanctuary for animals in jeopardy, wrote that in all 24 years of operation they had never seen an animal with hooves as overgrown as the small shetland pony they had just rescued. The poor thing barely managed to walk into the trailer. A Shetland pony needs to have its hooves trimmed about 3-4 times a year. It is obvious that it had been at least 10 years, yes a whole decade, since this poor pony had a trim! The pitiful pony's hooves had started to curl around in a circle and a half. This just looks so painful!

Both the pony and horse, now named Poly and Everest, were extremely malnourished and had an infestation of bugs residing on their skin. But, before any pampering, Poly's hooves needed to be taken care of as soon as possible. So, the farrier got to work. This will be an on-going process and will be continued over the next several months. The neglect of the care of his hooves will most certainly have a lasting physical impact on him. MAKE SURE YOU READ THE HAPPY ENDING TO THIS! THE STORY CONTINUES ON NEXT PAGE.
