The Heroes of Hope For Paws have done it again. Hope For Paws is a non-profit organization that rescues abandoned and abused animals. They created Hope for Paws to help animals who suffer and die every year because of negligence and abuse. On their website Hope For Paws says: Hope for Paws is a 501c-3 non-profit animal rescue organization, based in Los Angeles, California. We rescue dogs and all other animals who are suffering on the streets and in the shelters. We foster these animals in our home, cage free, until we can find them permanent, loving families. Our goal is to educate people on the importance of companion animals in our society to stop the cycle of animal neglect and abuse.
This story is about a stray dog who had been living on the streets his entire life. That is where Hope For Paws stepped in. They got a call that about the dog and arrived on scene to help. They were told that the dog was scared of humans and wouldn't let anyone near him. Immediately upon arrival the dog saw the team and took off into a busy intersection.
The team took off running after him, hoping to stop anything bad from happening to the pup. They were able to trap him in a gated enclosure and slip the 'stick' around his neck. The dog who they name, Benji, had never known a loving touch, started to go crazy trying to escape. He didn't trust the rescuers and was scared. Slowly, they were able to earn his trust as they gently pet his back. He calmed down, his panting stopped and the team patiently took their time to let him know he was safe.
As they slipped the 'Lucky Leash' on his neck, it was then time for Benji to start a new life. They loaded him in the car and took him to the vet to be examined. A Hope For Paws Representative said it was one of the worst mattings they had ever seen. Finally, it was time to shave away a lifetime of neglect. Just look at him now...
Though Benji had an instant physical transformation, his emotional transformation took awhile. After Benji's makeover, Lisa Chiarelli of Hope For Paws, began working on healing his soul. For more than 10 days Benji was shut down, but Lisa continued to show him love and support.
Benji met two friends, Lola and Frankie who helped him come out of his shell. Over time Benji became a happy and healthy dog. Today you'd find him running, playing and enjoying life with his two best buddies.
Benji needed to learn to accept love from humans. He needed to learn to trust and once that happened he became a loving dog. He was finally free from the years of neglect.
