When the organization known as "Save the Children" met a mother in Bangladesh named Shipra she was holding an adorable baby named Nirob.
"Save the Children" found out, shortly after meeting Shipra, that Nirob was not her first child; the heartbreaking truth about Shipra and Nirob is sobering to say the least.
Shipra had given birth to 3 other children before Nirob, but those children were nowhere to be found.
The reason for this is that those 3 children had passed away, each a week after their birth; Nirob was the first to survive beyond a week.
The reason Shipra had lost her first 3 children was do to the fact that there were no hospitals or clinics where she lived; without these institutions there was no way to get care for her and her children.
After Nirob was born he was not eating regularly and was losing weight rapidly; Shipra was again at risk of losing another child because she could not find out how to help her son.
Fortunately for Shipra and many other mothers in their remote part of Bangladesh, "Save the Children" began building clinics in their area, so mothers and children could get the help they needed.
Since 2012 "Save the Children" has built seven clinics in area where Shipra and her family live; the clinics are saving lives every day!
Shipra has since given birth to a beautiful daughter as well; both Nirob and his little sister Prima are healthy and THRIVING!
With the clinic only a short walk away from their home, and midwives being trained their daily, Shipra and the other mothers in her village no longer have to live in fear of giving birth!
