Since the woman was not able to reach the kitten from where she was, she decided to go down to where the kitten was. She may not have been able to reach her arm down, but the woman was just small enough to squeeze herself into the opening of the sewer. So, putting her feet in first, the woman shimmied her way into the sewer. Then, all at once, she vanished. She had made it inside.
The woman's friend peered into the opening and found her kneeling down to pick up the kitten. The little kitten was hiding amongst some branches but did not put up a fight when the woman reached down to save it. The kitten practically leaped into the woman's arms.
Within seconds the woman handed the kitten to her friend and squeezed her way back out of the opening. The women were then able to take the kitten to safety. The woman would never forget the day that she went the extra mile to save a helpless kitten and the little kitten would never forget the women that gave it a second chance at life.
