Clarabelle Was A Stray Dog Living Near The Train Yard. When Rescuers Finally Got Close, She Covered Her Eyes In Fear
Golden Retrievers are one of the most gentle and caring dog breeds anyone can come across. They are playful and very forgiving, and love to goof around all the time! Which can get annoying when you are training them, that’s a fact! However, no matter how annoying it can be while training, it makes them one of the best dog breeds around!
When Hope For Paws heard about a gentle and terrified Golden Retriever running loose on the streets, they knew she needed their help. Clarabelle, the Golden Retriever, managed to evade their attempts for five days, before they got eyes on her.
Finally, the rescuers spotted Clarabelle running loose near the train yard. The loud noises of the trains passing by, miscellaneous work at the train yard, and the rescuers all combined to make her even more scared, so she decided to take shelter.
Clarabelle hid underneath a building and Eldad, one of the rescuers, was forced to crawl under after her. He brought his catch pole with him, and tried to snag her with it while Lisa, the other rescuer, used a plastic pole to control where the pup went and prod her towards Eldad so he could grab her.
When he got the catch pole around her neck, she began to roll, scream and fight out of fear. She even got so scared she covered her eyes with her paws like a frightened child. Eldad immediately stopped pulling on the lead and carefully crawled towards the frozen pup. Gently, he reached out and began to stroke her head until she warmed up to him. After he gained her trust, he began to pull her out from underneath the area by her paws, inch by inch.
When Clarabelle was free, they took her away from the hell where she had been living. They gave the scared and gentle Golden Retriever a much needed bath, and placed her with another rescue.
Southern California Labrador Retriever Rescue stepped in to take Clarabelle and quickly placed her in a loving foster home. Clarabelle will never again have to worry about trains or where to find her next meal!
