Amber Heard is coming clean about her marriage to mega-famous star, Johnny Depp.
The couple married in 2015, but after months of what many had believed was bliss, Amber filed her first complaint against her husband: a domestic violence restraining order. Amber accused her husband of abusing her, but Johnny denied the claims. Fearing for her life, Amber decided to call the toxic marriage quits in 2016.
After their quick marriage, both Johnny and Amber signed NDAs barring them from commenting on their relationship publicly. However, Amber must have been desperate to share the truth because in 2018, she wrote a piece for The Washington Post. Amber’s content depicted life as a domestic violence victim, and while she refrained from mentioning Johnny Depp by name, Johnny took it a breach in their NDA and sued his former wife for defamation.
In March 2019, Johnny Depp demanded $50,000,000 from his ex-wife, but Amber stood her ground, claiming, “I spoke up against sexual violence — and faced our culture’s wrath. That has to change.”
After being sued for such a shocking amount, Amber realized that now was the time that needed to share her experience in detail. According to PEOPLE, Amber has since claimed that the mega-famous actor “became ‘the Monster’ when he was allegedly under the influence of drugs and alcohol.”
PEOPLE goes on to say that her former husband “repeatedly hit her, ripped out her hair and choked her.” She continued to say that he “would become a totally different person, often delusional and violent.”
She even went to recall a specific moment, detailing a time when she was on a flight from Boston to Los Angeles in May 2014. She confessed that Johnny “began to throw objects at me” due to his alleged disappointment that she had been in a romantic scene with another actor, James Franco. Instead of reacting to his behavior, Amber simply moved seats. She continued, “That didn’t stop him. He provocatively pushed a chair at me as I walked by, yelled at me, and taunted me by yelling out the name ‘James Franco.’”
She then confessed another moment, saying “He once threw another decanter at me, knocked items around the room, and punched a wall,” and alleged that Depp “slapped her hard, grabbed her by her hair and dragged her from a stairwell to the office to the living to the kitchen to the bedroom and then to the guest room.” She told officials that she wanted to leave him and that she threatened to call the police if he ever touched her again.
Depp has denied all claims. Regardless of the lawsuit, we can only pray that Amber is safe and out of harm's way. Please keep her in your prayers.
