It’s always a joyous occasion when a couple announces they will be adding a little one to their family. For first time parents, the joy is multiplied exponentially. There are so many unknowns, both exciting and scary, as they attempt to navigate through a whole new world together.
Unfortunately, there are situations in which pregnancy can be extremely difficult for a mother-to-be. One Hollywood actress recently came forward and admitted her private struggle with a pregnancy illness that recently landed her in the hospital.
Comedian and actress, Amy Schumer, has always been known to keep people laughing wherever she goes. Since becoming pregnant with her first child with husband, Chris Fisher, she has been severely ill with hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).
Women who struggle with this illness experience extreme vomiting, nausea, weight loss, and electrolyte imbalances. HG has become increasingly more known when news broke that the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, struggled immensely with this condition while pregnant will all three of her children.
Schumer has never been one to keep quiet about her thoughts, but, from time to time, she’s made a conscious effort to keep her private life on the down low. On November 29th, she took to Instagram in a moment of rawness.
She posted a picture of her little pup along with the caption: “The last few days have been tough. I’m grateful and know it’s temporary but tough just the same. Please if you don’t mind. Post pics of your kids and tag me #amyschumer. My friends sending me pics and vids of their kids is making me feel so much better. Much love. Accepting dog photos too.”
Since posting this message, she has received over 50,000 likes and just as many comments. Many of the comments come from devout fans and mothers who all offer their condolences for her state and wish her nothing but to feel better.
It goes without saying that a response of this magnitude within such a short amount of time is just what the mom-to-be ordered. She got just what she asked for and more from sincere fans who want nothing more than to see her happy, healthy, and feeling good for the remainder of her pregnancy.
While she’s not alone, being that sick can certainly make you feel as though you are. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the mama-to-be! We hope her symptoms are able to subside sooner than later so that she can enjoy what’s left of her pregnancy.
