If you are anything like me, you value your sleep more than you value most other things. If you wake up two minutes before your alarm goes off in the morning, your entire day is ruined. Sometimes, however, falling asleep proves to be the most difficult thing in the world. The love of sleep is not limited to humans, however. Animals love their sleep too and seem to have the same problems people have when it comes to waking up early or getting to sleep late. This was proven by the two little elephants in this story. Luckily, they had a special friend that knew exactly how to get them to doze off for nap time.
One afternoon, at the Winga Baw Myanmar elephant camp, workers noticed a rather adorable sight. Two elephant calves, who were sharing a playpen, were refusing to go down for their afternoon nap. It wasn't that the baby elephants weren't tired because their eyes were heavy and they trunks were drooping. There was simply too much fun to be had while they were awake, however, so sleep just had to wait. The workers knew they needed to get the little calves down for their nap so they called in the elephants' best friend, Lek. Lek knew exactly what to do for the rambunctious little calves.
Lek entered the enclosure and started singing a gentle lullaby. The two elephants immediately stopped running around and listened to the song. Lek approached the calves and stroked their trunks, all the while singing her soothing lullaby. Within minutes, both of the calves laid down, cuddled up next to each other, and fell asleep at the exact same time. Thanks to the love and beautiful voice of Lek, the two elephants were finally able to get the nap the so desperately needed. Watch the video below to witness the beautiful interaction.
