Best Baby Announcement EVER. Wait Till You See How This Daughter Tells Her Mom She’s Gonna Be A Grandma

October 11, 2017

Finding out you're pregnant is THE greatest moment of your life. The first time I found out I was pregnant, it was a dream come true. I had wanted to be a mom for as long as I can remember, so when it finally happened, I was beyond excited and extremely happy! The news can also bring a lot of other emotions...excitement, happiness, joy, gratitude, impatience, denial, worry, fear, anxiety... these are only a few examples of the feelings and emotions that a few of us admitted experiencing in early pregnancy. Of all of these, the most prominent are JOY and EXCITEMENT.

After you find out you are pregnant the next step is telling EVERYONE! Now that's the exciting part. Earlier this year, Mason and Ashley found out they were pregnant. So exciting! They wanted to find the perfect way to tell Ashley's mom that she would be a grandmother, so they came up with a genius plan. They love to play games together, so Ashley designed her own “Mad Gab” cards and placed them in the mix of the regular game cards.

If you have never played Mad Gab, it's a game in which there are at least two teams and two to twelve players. Each team has two minutes to sound out three puzzles. The puzzles, also known as mondegreens, contain small words that, when put together, make a word or phrase. For example, "These If Hill Wore" when pronounced quickly sounds like "The Civil War." Another example would be, "Eye Mull of Mush Sheen" quickly spoken it sounds like "I'm A Love Machine." There are two levels of difficulty, easy and hard. The faster the puzzles are answered, the more points the players score.

This game uses phonetics, which is a branch of linguistics. This game is a test for the human brain to process simpler English-written sounds into a meaningful word or phrase. The game is designed so that a person would not be able to decode the meaning of the phrase unless she spoke it out loud and then heard the words; reading the phrase silently will not allow the player to decode the meaning because sounds would have to be encoded into meaningful English words.

In the video, below, you see Ashley's mom trying with all she has to figure out the Mad Gab card which said, “Eye Mag Own Abbey Aground Mow There” (I'm a gonna be a grandmother). When this future grandmother finally gets it, she is overwhelmed with excitement. We are excited for this grandmother too!!
