The search for missing 4-year-old Beau Rabon came to a close on the morning of Friday, April 6, when police found his body in the Chattahoochee River at 8:34 am. He had been missing for nine days by the time his body was discovered, but they never stopped searching for him. Beau's body was found near Bibb Pond in Columbus, Georgia.
Beau had been fishing with his father, Ryan Rabon, on March 28th. They were standing on the bank 250 yards south of the dam when Beau fell into the water. He was quickly swept away by the raging river, and Ryan immediately jumped in to try and save him.
Neither Beau or Ryan were wearing a life jacket at the time, and the river carried them both away. Ryan’s body was recovered on Easter Sunday, and the search had continued on as divers hoped to bring peace to their family. Even when the odds of finding Beau began to dwindle, the divers refused to give up, knowing how important it would be to return little Beau home to his family.
Divers began to scour the river, and they have been working in shifts ever since the father and son disappeared. Two divers from the Department of Natural Resources in Columbia, South Carolina, arrived to help and brought new camera equipment that would play a large part in locating Beau.
Please, make sure to use any precautions you can when you and your family are going to be by the water. Life jackets are always important gear for children, in particular, to be wearing when they are at the water’s edge. Adults should also have one if they are going to be near dangerous water or currents.
Ryan leaves behind his adoring wife, Allison, and their two other children. Please, keep their family in your prayers at this trying time as they face a horrific loss that no family should ever have to. A GoFundMe has been started to help raise money for the family in their time of need.
