The day a man and woman say ‘I Do’ is supposed to be the happiest day in their lives. And the same goes for their family and friends. They all gather together to witness the vows between a couple whom they have watched grow and thrive in their love and devotion for one another. It all culminates in the wedding ceremony, with tears of joy and well wishes all around.
But when the happiest day of a couple’s life also becomes the LAST day of their lives, those who love them are left in utter and complete shock at the dramatic and cruel turn of events.
That is what happened to a Texas couple who had just become man and wife hours earlier. As the two took off from their wedding celebration in a most dramatic an unforgettable day, their complete joy turned into unimaginable pain for those left behind.
Fox News reports, “Will Byler, of Bellville, and Bailee Ackerman, of Orangefield, were killed ‘as they flew off in the family helicopter’ as they left their fairytale wedding, a family friend wrote in a Facebook post. The pilot [Gerald Green] also reportedly died.”
Charly Edsitty provided further information about the crash and how family and friends learned of the mishap.
“I spoke w/the stepdaughter of the pilot who says the flight path was routine for her stepdad and he had flown it many times. The family is in shock over the accident and knew something was wrong when they didn’t hear from anyone hours later.”
A family friend, Eric Smith had the difficult task of sharing the devastating news on social media.
"I’m absolutely devastated! Horrible news!
"We feel like it’s OK to post now. So sorry we did not post earlier we just did not feel it was appropriate. Bailee Ackerman Byler of Orangefield and William Troy Byler III of Bellville passed away last night. We celebrated their fairytale wedding and they were surrounded by their family and friends as they flew off in the family helicopter.
"Sadly they crashed into the side of a hill about a mile from the family ranch. The pilot, Jerry, was also on board. There were no survivors! Please keep everyone associated with this tragic event in your prayers."
The National Transportation And Safety Board is investigating the crash that occurred in Uvalde County, Texas.
Please join us in sending our condolences to the family and friends as they deal with this tremendous loss.
