Camilla Parker Bowles has been pushing the envelopes for the last several decades. Since being known as “the other woman” in the marriage of Princess Diana and Prince Charles, her reputation hasn’t been highly regarded in the last nearly 40 years.
Camilla married Prince Charles in 2005 and became the Duchess of Cornwall. Since then, she’s been working her way into the British people’s good graces. Although, she’s had a rough go at it- to say the least.
Over the last couple of years, several stories have been published regarding Camilla’s relationship with the rest of the Royal Family. Everyone from the Queen to the royal butlers has had interesting run-ins with Camilla. Kensington Palace had done their fair share of damage control for the Duchess of Cornwall’s responses.
On May 17th, just two days before Camilla and Charles watch their youngest son marry Meghan Markle, Camilla stole headlines again. This time, for a reason far different than anyone had expected.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall attended a church service at St. Martin-in-the-Fields in London. While the Duchess dresses to impress, she gave the people of the event a show with her outlandish ensemble.
Camilla stunned the crowds in a cream-colored coat, a diamond butterfly brooch, a four-strand pearl necklace, and pear and diamond earrings. While she looked lovely, one thing tipped her wardrobe over the top…
The Duchess topped off her look- literally- with one of the most bizarre hats anyone has ever seen! The 70-year-old’s festive hat included dozens of white ostrich feather. The feathers were covering the perimeter of the hat and nearly stood two inches high.
Attendants watched as Camilla paraded boldly through the event in her hat. Some called it obnoxious while other’s loved it and recognized immediately as she wore the same exact hat in 2011 to her nephew's wedding.
What do you think of her outfit choice? Festive hats are all the rage in London fashion, but this one doesn’t seem to get too much positive attention… Do you think she’ll wear something as wild to Harry and Meghan’s wedding? Let us know what you think in the comment section on Facebook!
