Life these days is quite hectic for the British royal family. They are some of the most well-known individuals around the globe, and their influence is stronger now than we ever imagined. They dominate every news outlet and fascinate those young and old.
Now that the “Royal Baby No. 3” has been born and the “Wedding of the Century” has taken place, many would assume that the craziness of their day-to-day lives has slowed down. That couldn’t be farther from the truth.
The blissful newlyweds, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, quickly arrived back from their two-week honeymoon adventure just in time for Queen Elizabeth’s birthday celebration, Trooping the Colour. The rest of the family was present for this momentous occasion and dazzled millions with their tasteful, elegant ensembles.
Shortly before this day arrived, Queen Elizabeth’s daughter-in-law, Camilla Parker Bowles, had another event to attend. She was attending the 500 Words creative writing competition at Hampton Court Palace where she served as an honorary judge. During this visit, she was asked to speak on behalf of the palace, and her words surely did not disappoint.
There was something so overwhelming about the event, itself, that made her become quite emotional. After listening to some of the written entries, her emotions got the best of her. According to sources, the Duchess of Cornwall uttered, “On the way, I’m afraid to say you were right about a little tear and the mascara. We had a little cry.”
The writers had such powerful, meaningful entries that touched Camilla to the core. In her speech to the writers, she returned the favor. She said:
“It is a huge pleasure to be with you all today - and to have traveled in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, the magical car from one of my favorite stories was a special treat. Those of you who have seen the film might remember the slightly bonkers character of Granda Potts. Well, Granda Potts has some very good advice that I want to share with you this morning. His advice is, ‘Never say no to adventures. Always say yes, otherwise you’ll lead a very dull life.’ I want to encourage everyone here to keep reading, to keep writing, and to keep saying a big fat yes to adventure.”
Undoubtedly, her wise words resonated with everyone there, encouraging them to keep pursuing adventures throughout their lives. The students walked away feeling empowered and encouraged to continue on and lead a life full of excitement and adventure, always saying yes to opportunities that arise along the way.
Its reasons like this that make us appreciate the Duchess of Cornwall all the more. We can’t wait to see just how she continues to inspire the future generations to come.
