Planning for a getaway always has its ups and downs. On one hand, there are many exciting details to map out from location, lodging, travel, and dining. On the other hand, though, the less favorable side of travel is packing. It’s the dreaded chore that many put off until the very last minute. Depending on the location and the duration of the visit, you’re left wondering just how much to pack and what things are absolutely vital for your trip.
If you’re a Royal, trip planning is a vastly different experience. They have people taking care of all the arrangements. All they need to is arrive. Sounds a bit like a lavish dream, doesn’t it?
Speaking of lavish, two Royals tend to outdo the others when it comes to travel necessities. In the book Rebel Prince: The Power, Passion, and Defiance of Prince Charles by Tom Bower, his over the top needs were exposed, leaving many at an utter loss for words. These facts began to make many wonder just what his adoring mate, Camilla, insists on bringing with her. Much to their surprise, it’s equally as wild.
After officials finally managed to talk the Duchess of Cornwall into traveling via commercial jet for environmental purposes, she whipped out a list of what she deemed as necessary accompaniment. For starters, she insists on having 14 staff members with her on every visit. These include her personal hairdresser, a doctor, a dresser, two valets, a butler, and police officers.
She brings along a list of foods she despises so that, no matter the destination, she won’t have to fret over being served distasteful dishes. To many, this does seem over-the-top outrageous. When living a life of luxury, though, it might just come as second nature to them.
Much to the surprise of many, both Charles and Camilla have a much more elaborate list of needs for travel than even the Queen does. Maybe after some time, they will take after the simplistic and frugal travel habits of Her Majesty.
What do you think about this? Do you think Royals should be allowed the freedom to be over-the-top in their travels or do you think they should be made to mirror the Queen’s travel habits?
