In any job, there are a number of expectations set for you. More often than not, there might be a few that are a little more difficult to adhere to than others. Ultimately, you know that it comes with the territory and you must follow along with them despite any reservations you may have.
If you have a high-profile job, your expectations are magnified simply because of your status. It’s not only your boss that is seeing your work ethic but the entire world.
Being part of the British royal family comes with its ups and downs. The downside to this status is knowing that no matter what you do - or don’t do - the world will have an opinion about it. Your every move is picked apart, so you soon learn that you must pick your battles to keep your name out of the negative spotlight.
Camilla Parker Bowles, unfortunately, has a hard time doing such. Being the Duchess of Cornwall is a lofty position, to say the least, and she often appears in the eye of the public. Unlike other members of the Royal family, she tends to end up drawing in more negativity than one would desire.
Many would speculate that the reason for attracting so much distaste from the public is due to the affair she had with Prince Charles when he was married to Princess Diana. People loved Diana as if she were their closest friend, and when you wrong a friend, it’s often deemed unforgivable.
Lately, news has emerged about Camilla’s work ethic, and many wonder just how much she truly enjoys her job. It’s been noted that she’s skipped out of many trips with her husband, Charles. Her health is in good standing, so that is not the reason for the absence. A representative from the Clarence House confirmed this by saying, “There are no health reasons. She’s as fit as a flea.”
The true reason behind her frequent absence is her fear of flying. The representative went on to say, “The Duchess does not like flying, but I think sometimes she has to embrace that fear and get on with it.” The public couldn’t agree more.
It’s been said that she’s taken various measures to overcome this fear. One that she’s frequently done is the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which aids in reducing the trauma of fear surrounding a certain situation.
Her irrational and inconsolable fears have caused quite a ruckus in the family. They’ve often had to go to great lengths to ensure her comfort, happiness, and to encourage a willingness to make trips.
Do you think this is irrational for someone in a position such as this?
