You might say the Royals have a love/hate relationship with the press. On one hand, the Queen and her family are grateful for the way the media brings to light causes and events that are important to the work they do, but on the other hand, the constant presence of the cameras can - and often do - become an intrusion into private affairs.
So, it’s no wonder that any individual member of the royal clan can seem to run hot and cold when it comes to the paparazzi who always seem to be just around the next corner. That's exactly what happened with one 'media darling' of the Royal Family when she turned on them and put photographers in their place.
We all remember the adorable display little Princess Charlotte made on her way into the Lindo Wing of St. Mary’s Hospital to meet her new baby brother for the first time. Even though it was Prince Louis’ big day, his older sister seemed to steal the spotlight for just a brief moment.
Unable to ignore the presence of the photographers in the crowd, the little princess decided to give them a show of royal proportions. At the tender age of (not quite) three years of age, William and Kate’s second-born child knew exactly how to woo the horde of onlookers.
Every bit the consummate royal, Charlotte gave the photographers enough shots to fill their daily quota as she pulled out her adorable wave, not once but several times, the last time being as she finally entered the double doors of the hospital.
From that interaction alone, the press was riding high on the obvious affection the toddler had for their profession. That is why they were stunned when she turned on them in such a vicious way on the day of Prince Louis’ christening. Just seven weeks had passed, but the change in the little girl was striking.
As the lovely family of five exited the church after the littlest Cambridge was christened, they were met with the usual sight - a throng of photographers eager to get just the perfect pic of the event. But, the moment Princess Charlotte spied them, her countenance changed in an instant.
Gone was the smiling, charming little two-year-old who seemed so happy to see them just a few short weeks ago. Instead, in her place was a skeptical, unfriendly, scowling little three-year-old who, obviously, had changed her opinion about her former-buddies.
And to add insult to injury, not only did the little princess NOT smile, but she also had a message to deliver to the photographers: "You're NOT coming!" She was determined to make sure that the intruders understood that, in no uncertain terms, they were NOT welcome at the family reception that followed the ceremony.
I guess she told them!! It looks as though this cutie pie is not going to be one for sitting in the shadows letting others speak for her! She's going to tell us how she really feels and I, for one, am glad!
