Preparing meals day in and day out for your family can be exhausting if you're working on a smaller budget.

Some family members are pickier than others or some want one type of food while the others want something completely different.

When you're stuck in this situation, it helps to have someone who's "been there, done that" to give a little wisdom on the situation.

Clara Cannucciari knows just what it's like to eat on a tight budget. She grew up in the Great Depression and she has a collection of all the recipes they used to feed the whole family when times were extremely tough.

"We would have fresh ground coffee. We'd hear my mother downstairs grinding coffee so it was time to get up," Clara said.

They didn't have a lot, much like everyone else during that time. They made the most of what they had, and they were happy nonetheless.

On Sundays, they could have cookies. They looked forward to that day of the week because cookies truly were a luxury.

On her YouTube channel, Great Depression Cooking, Clara gives step-by-step instructions on how they prepared various meals durning their childhood.
