The ocean is one of the most fascinating things on the planet. It’s an underwater world teeming with more life than one could even fathom. It’s quite wild to think that while we’re going about our day to day lives on land, there’s an entirely separate ecosystem doing the very same deep beneath the water’s surface.
Sometimes, the ocean, itself, can do some rather interesting things, leaving us staring in complete amazement. In the ocean water off of Australia’s coast, one particular natural phenomenon has mesmerized people for many years. This unusual occurrence only happens a few times a year so, when spotted, people take great notice.
Out in the middle of the ocean, a series of waves occur, reaching up to 40 feet in height, and creating whirlpools that are 2,500 feet in diameter and drop 300 feet below the water’s surface. To call it breathtaking would be a drastic understatement.
26-year-old Tybias Smith is known to be quite a daredevil and was completely enamored by the unique ocean waves. He set out on his jet ski to do the unthinkable: ride the monstrous waves. Even though he is daring by nature, this feat did make him a bit nervous.
He set out to achieve the unthinkable and had a camera crew closely behind. The images they captured on this adventure of a lifetime were nothing short of fantastic. He gracefully sped over the waves as if with ease, though, at times, they looked rather precarious.
After all was said and done, Tybias walked away with an incredible experience under his belt and the footage to back up his story. Check out what they captured in the video below!
