From the outside, the British Royal Family appears to live the last cast right out of a fairytale; from living in palaces to wearing tiaras and being referred to as “Your Royal Highness,” their lives feel hardly relatable but oh so intriguing.
But the truth is, their life is really just a “normal” like everyone else’s. Sure, their names will go down in history, but the British Royal Family has their own struggles and triumphs; they may look a little different, but at the end of the day, they’re just people.
Today, however, the Royal Family is being more relatable than ever before. In a world where social media is common communication, people have the chance to read more, see more, and learn more about the Royal Family than ever before.
Two of the Royal Family’s most talked about members are Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie. As granddaughters to the Queen and William and Harry’s first cousins, Beatrice, 29, and Eugenie, 28, are often in the Royal Family's spotlight- and it's rarely easy.
Since they were just toddlers, their parents, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson, have caused their family’s name to be a hot topic in the media. After cheating scandals and a messy divorce, Beatrice and Eugenie suffered from the repercussions of their mother’s unfaithful actions. Nearly three decades later, Beatrice and Eugenie find themselves the topics of several nasty rumors and tabloid lies.
In a recent interview with Britsih Vogue, the princess revealed that they struggle with a lot of what the media shares with them simply because it’s not true. The sister pair confessed that they are “each other’s rocks” when public ridicule gets out of hand.
Younger sister Eugenie shared, “There was a horrible article that had been written about Beatrice and she got really upset. We were just about to step out [at a Buckingham Palace garden party] and she had a bit of a wobble and cried. I was looking after her… And then about an hour later, I had a wobble and started crying and Bea was there for me.” Thankfully, they have one another to not let the lies and negativity of the media drag them down.
Now more than ever, Beatrice and Eugenie are relying on each other to navigate their Royal status, personal lives, careers, and reputations- all thanks to the always-connected world of social media. Thankfully, these two sisters vow to always have each other’s backs!
