Final Day Of Royal Scandinavian Tour: The Duke And Duchess Of Cambridge Hit The Slopes For Some Fun In the Snow

February 02, 2018

“Thousands of people cross the North Sea in each direction every year. Friendship is the hallmark of what prompts them to make this journey. Catherine and I are delighted that, now, we too have made that journey; we too have experienced the warmth of that friendship on this very special visit.” ~Prince William

Topping off their four-day trip to Sweden and Norway, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge enjoyed some time on the scenic ski slopes of Oslo, Norway. The Holmenkollen Resort is home to the Holmenkollen Ski Jump, one of Oslo’s most famous landmarks.

William and Kate shared the experience with not only Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit, but also an exuberant group of schoolchildren who were having an afternoon session on the slopes.

Highlights of their time on Holmenkollen included a tour of the world’s oldest ski museum, and gazing in amazement at the skills of the Junior National Ski Jumping Team. After, the Royal Couple enjoyed roasting sausages over an open fire, delighting the school children they had just met.

Norway has won more medals at the Winter Olympics than any other country, and with mere days until the Games open, this group’s excitement and anticipation is at a fever pitch.

Earlier in the day, William and Catherine had a private lunch with the Crown Prince and Princess, followed by a visit to a local school to discuss many of the challenges that today's teenagers are facing.

In addition, the duo stopped in at the studios of the hit Norwegian show, "Skam," speaking to some of the young stars who take on these same issues through their dialogue on the program.

With memories to last a lifetime, the Royal Couple heads back home after their whirlwind trip to Sweden and Norway. What do you want to bet that their first stop when they cross the threshold at Kensington Palace, will be to scoop up their beloved children and give them gigantic hugs?

Four whole days without Mummy and Daddy seems like a lifetime for a two-year-old and a four-year-old, and Prince George and Princess Charlotte are no different. The reunion is sure to be sweet and special.

Thanks for the fantastic Scandinavian ride, Your Highnesses; we can’t wait for your next exciting adventure!
