Relationships are the most precious part of this world, whether they are between two people, a pet and a person, or even two pets, they make the world go round with joy and love. I have always loved the relationships between children and pets, in particular. There is a beautiful sense of innocence wrapped up in the relationship between a child and an animal. In most cases, a child’s tender love will cause animals to let their guards down, especially if the animal has been mistreated by previous owners.
One six-year-old little girl, Meghan, made a decision a long time ago that she was going to live her life being compassionate and kind to animals. As the daughter of an animal foster family, Meghan has spent nearly her entire life welcoming frightened animals and encouraging them to trust her. Last year alone, Meghan’s family fostered 75 dogs in their home.
Meghan’s family quickly became known for their compassion toward rescue animals, so much so that when a runaway dog led adult rescuers on a two-month chase, they contacted the six-year-old little girl! Without hesitation, Meghan agreed to help rescue the dog!
When Meghan arrived at the location where the dog had been spotted, she realized this wasn’t just any runaway dog; this one of the dogs that her family had fostered months prior! Meghan approached the dog. At first, it ran away, but she remained encouraged. She simply sat on the grass and waited for the pup to come to her.
As soon as the dog realized who was sitting across from her, she ran over and greeted Meghan with love! Rescuers were watching from afar and, when they saw this, they were shocked! The dog, whom Meghan had named Daisy, was thrilled to be back in the arms of her trustworthy friend.
After the sweet reunion, Daisy remained with Meghan and her family, only this time Daisy was home for good with her new family. When asked how Meghan was able to do the impossible and get Daisy over to her, she simply replied with, “Trust. It’s just simple trust and love.”
I think this is just the sweetest story out there! Meghan, you are a caring and compassionate little girl and I am so grateful for the way you love animals! Check out the video if you would like to see this sweet reunion!
