The influential female group, The Crystals, took the world by storm in the 60’s. Their music was known for being upbeat, soulful dancing music and their fans simply couldn’t get enough.

Some of their most notable hits were “Da Doo Ron Ron” and “Then He Kissed Me”. They gained a great deal of attention from one song called “He Hit Me (And It Felt Like A Kiss)” because of its highly controversial message. It later was pulled from rotation completely.

The group consisted of five women, including Barbara Alston, Dee Dee Kennibrew, Mary Thomas, Patricia Wright, and La La Brooks. News broke today that lead singer, Barbara Alston, age 74, passed away on February 16 after contracting the flu.

Our thoughts are prayers are with the Alston family during this tragic time.
