There's something overwhelmingly nostalgic about opening up a brand new box of Crayola crayons. The smell instantly takes you right back to joy-filled memories of childhood where you would color the day away. It was a huge deal if mom and dad splurged for the mega 64 count box WITH the built in sharpener. If you had that set, you were envied by all your friends at school!
I remember laying in the living room floor on summer days, organizing all my colors in order from darkest to lightest. I would count each one, reading their unique names. I even remember being mesmerized by the slight variances between every color. Oh, the good ole days!
Friday, March 31, is National Crayon Day. In honor of this fun holiday, Crayola recently made a HUGE announcement. They will be marking this occasion by retiring one of their iconic colors from their classic 24 count box.
This will be the first time the company has dropped a color from this collection, so crayon fans around the country are all anxiously waiting to see if their childhood favorite color will be making the cut!
They will be revealing the retired color on a livestream video from their Facebook page on Friday morning.
The current 24 count box currently contains the following colors:
red, yellow, blue, brown, orange, green, violet, black, carnation pink, yellow orange, blue green, red violet, red orange, yellow green, blue violet, white, violet red, dandelion, cerulean, apricot, scarlet, green yellow, indigo, and gray.
Out of these colors, which one do YOU think will be headed to retirement? I'm hoping that cerulean isn't going anywhere!!
