International Incident Kills 36; North Korea Responds

April 23, 2018

A traffic accident occured outside of Pyongyang on Sunday night that claimed the lives of 32 Chinese tourists and four North Koreans. Two other Chinese tourists have been transported to the hospital, and their condition has been described as “acutely serious.”

According to footage on broadcast on China’s state CCTV, the bus was a mangled mess and rain was pouring down as rescue vehicles investigated the crash. They also showed footage of the injured survivors at the hospital.

North Korea’s roads are infamous for being poorly maintained and extremely dark. There are no street lights lining the rides, even outside of the major cities, and drivers tend to go whatever speed they want.

According to North Korea’s ministry, the North Koreans who died in the crash were “workers.” However, all visitors to North Korea are to be accompanied by Minders, so it is believed that the workers killed were likely minders.

Further details on the identities or backgrounds of those killed or injured in the crash have not been released at this time.

Please pray for the families of the victims as they face this horrible loss. Hopefully the remaining hospitalized people will recover from their injuries and be able to return to their homes soon.

This is a horrible story, and we know that sometimes we need a reminder of the good in the world at a time like this, so be sure to check out the video below!
