Authorities are desperately searching for a 13-year-old girl who police call “missing and in danger” after her parents were found shot to death at the family’s home early Monday morning. And now, they may have received the first break in the case and are pulling out all the stops to pursue the lead. Miami, Florida Police Department police issued the following statement on Monday afternoon:
“Endangered Juvenile, Jayne Closs from Barron, WI, may have been seen in the afternoon of 10/15/18, in the area of N.W. 27 Ave and 11 St. If it was her, she was in a black Ford Explorer with a possible WI plate of I60WER. If you have any information please call 9-1-1 immediately.”
The tip has not been verified, but police still hope that anyone who may have seen the young teenager will get in contact with them. Over the course of the investigation, authorities have sought the help of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the FBI.
It’s also been reported that investigators have contacted Jayme’s school and spoken with some of her friends and acquaintances in the hopes of gathering additional useful information.
Fox News reports, “Jayme Closs was reported missing after deputies discovered her parents' bodies inside their home on Highway 8, located west of Barron, Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald told Fox 9. The Barron County sheriff's office did not immediately respond to Fox News' request for information.”
Police say they received a 9-1-1 call shortly before 1:00 AM on Monday from an unidentified person asking for assistance. Authorities would not say if the person making the call could have been one of the victims or the daughter.
Fox News reports, “Barron police responded to a 9-1-1 call at the home on Highway 8 just before 1 a.m. Monday and found the teen’s parents, James Closs, 56, and Denise Closs, 45, dead inside. Fitzgerald said there was evidence of gunshots, but stopped short on definitively saying how the couple died."
“Authorities issued an Amber Alert on Monday evening after failing to find the teenage girl. Jayme is described as 5-feet, 100 pounds with green eyes and blond or strawberry-blond hair. No description of a possible suspect or vehicle was provided.
