The internet was all ablaze recently, with the scandalous news that Meghan Markle’s dad faked a photo-op ahead of the May 19th Royal wedding between his daughter and Prince Harry of Great Britain. Thomas Markle, Sr. was snapped in a series of “staged” settings and reportedly was paid big bucks for the exclusive.
Some have called for Meghan to rescind her request to have her dad walk her down the aisle. Others have defended the father’s actions in light of his absence from the public scene. Still, others say it’s just another example of the type of family Ms. Markle comes from and one more reason why she is not fit to be a royal.
So what are these “incriminating” pics that have the internet all in a tizzy? The Daily Mail claims to have obtained the pics and want to share what they have learned. “The astonishing footage obtained by The Mail on Sunday shows the 73-year-old former lighting director arriving at an internet cafe with photographer Jeff Rayner.
"Minutes later the pair are seen preparing to photograph Mr. Markle while he is sitting at a computer looking at a news story about his daughter and Prince Harry.
The Daily Mail goes on to describe just what the photographs depict:
"Being measured for a suit to wear to the wedding – in fact, the ‘tailor’ was an assistant at a party goods shop recruited for the job as the suit hire store the photographer planned to use was closed.
"Being caught browsing a book of British landmarks in a branch of Starbucks – although he actually arrived at the cafe with the photographer, and set up the shot.
“Working out with weights to get in shape for the big day – but the pictures appear to have been taken on a waste tip, an unlikely place to exercise but away from prying eyes."
Publication of the photos “in Britain came 42 days after they were taken but just ten days before the wedding. They appeared in a number of publications including MailOnline, who were not party to any financial agreements with Mr. Markle. Experts say they would have made thousands of pounds for the photographer.”
Now, after the Senior Markle has taken plenty of heat over his “unforgivable” actions, we find out the real story and it’s not what we expected to hear at all.
Just this morning, Meghan Markle’s older half-sister, Samantha (Markle) Grant has confessed, admitting that she was behind the sneaky scenario. She explains that she did it for one reason alone: to help her father. What??
That’s correct! Ms. Grant said her complete motivation was to help repair her father’s public reputation because he has been treated so unfairly in the press. She also claimed to have been motivated by concerns for his health and safety.
That is why Samantha arranged for the photo-op and made sure the pics were publicized ahead of the big event this coming Saturday. But in the stunning revelation, the true culprit has stepped forward to take the blame for the ill-conceived decision that has, since, brought the Markle family intense criticism.
People reveals, “I have to say I am entirely the culprit,” Samantha said during an appearance on British talk show Loose Women on Monday. “As we know the media can take very unflattering photographs of people on their casual days and blow it way out of proportion. I said, you know, the world has no idea you’re getting in shape, doing healthy things. They don’t photograph you buying vegetables and PH water. They photograph you as unflattering ways as they can.”
“So I said, really you need to show the world that you’re getting in shape and doing great healthy things,” she added. “So I suggested it. There’s been a lot of scrutiny that it was money motivated, it was not. It was my suggestion that to benefit him and to benefit the royal family that everyone looked good and they depict you as you are – in shape and doing healthy things.”
The unexpected appearance of the phony photos was especially puzzling considering that Harper’s Bazaar reports, “Prince Harry's representatives released a statement claiming that Thomas was being ‘followed and harassed’ by members of the media and the paparazzi. Daily Mail reports that the letter from the prince ‘urged editors not to publish pictures of Mr. Markle and called on them to stop pursuing him.’
And what does the palace have to say about all this? "The revelations will cause deep embarrassment for the Palace in the lead-up to the Royal wedding. A source said the Palace had been offering Mr. Markle support and would 'continue to make interventions with the media out of concern for his safety and security'."
