Earlier this week, the comedy world was hit with the devastating news that one of the up and coming greats had tragically passed away.
Kevin Barnett, most notably recognized for being the co-creator of the Rel on Fox was suddenly confirmed dead, leaving fans in utter shock and heartbreak. Fox Entertainment posted an official statement following the news:
“Our hearts are broken, as are those of everyone at ‘Rel,’ at the news of Kevin Barnett’s passing. He was an incredibly funny, wildly talented man who had so much more to do and so many more stories to tell. We send our thoughts and prayers to his friends and family during this difficult time.”
United Talent Agency also spoke out following the news: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of our friend and client, Kevin Barnett. He was an incredible talent and a wonderful person. Our thoughts are with his family and friends. We will miss him.”
He was a mere 32 years old when he passed away and, up until now, no one knew exactly what the cause of death was. After further investigation, authorities have now come forward with the truth that many have been longing to hear.
A U.S. Department of State official gave the official death comment: “We can confirm the death of a U.S. citizen, Kevin Barnett, in Tijuana on January 22. We offer our sincerest condolences to his family on their loss, and we stand ready to provide all appropriate consular assistance.”
The Chief of the Forensic Medical Services gave the official word on the actual cause of death: “On January 22 at 5:50 a.m., a 32-year-old man body was received, identified as Kevin Michel Barnett, from Avenida Revolucion in Tijuana.”
The statement continued. “The corresponding autopsy was carried out, which determined the cause of death was: Non-Traumatic Hemorrhage, caused by pancreatitis. At the moment, his body is still in facilities of the Forensic Medical Service of Tiajuana waiting to be delivered to his family members who are performing the legal proceedings.”
Because of his bubbly, outgoing personality, his friends and family knew they wanted to do something special in his memory. A celebration of his life will be held at The Bell House in Brooklyn on Friday, January 25.
