One of the familiar faces in the reality tv world has finally chosen to come forward and address an issue that’s been a long time coming: her sobriety.
The 53-year-old Real Housewives of New York star, Luann de Lesseps, sat down with Fox News to tell her side of the story. In July, Lesseps checked herself into rehab to help control her alcohol abuse. This was not the first time she’d darkened the doors of this facility. She had previously checked in following an arrest for disorderly conduct in 2017.
This time, enough was enough for her and she wanted to put an end to her substance abuse once and for all.
While speaking to Fox News, she told them that she was finally doing “good.” “It’s not easy, but I take it day by day. I feel so much better and happier without it, so it works for me.”
This is something that her devout fans had been anxiously awaiting to hear for quite some time. As of now, she has passed the milestone of being 120 days sober, which is certainly worth celebrating!
She said that her RHONY cast members helped give her the push she needed toward sticking out this new journey. “The girls are very supportive of my sobriety and I’m able to do this new season without too many problems.”
While during this show she is constantly around those partaking in alcoholic beverages, she’s learned to say no. “It’s always going to be there. Temptation is always there. It’s up to me not to pick up and drink, but the girls have been very supportive of my sobriety, and that’s made it a lot easier for me.”
To overcome an addiction of any sort is never an easy feat, and for someone continually bombarded with their own personal temptation is an even bigger hurdle to tackle. Hopefully, Lesseps’ determination will continue to stay strong so that she will never have to face it ever again.
