She was reported missing by her family on June 17 where she was last seen taking a Lyft to a Hatch Park in Salt Lake City, UT.

The Salt Lake City Police Chief Mike Brown confirmed the identity of the kidnapper and murderer as being 31-year-old Ayoola Ajayi. From their findings, they discovered that Ajayi was at the same park at the same time as Lueck.

Lueck’s family knew something was peculiar since she never goes long without keeping in contact with them. When they were unable to reach her, they immediately contacted the local authorities. Little did they know the tragic ending that awaited.

On June 26, Ajayi’s property was seized and searched. Neighbors recalled they “saw him using gasoline to burn something in his backyard on June 17 and 18.”

Brown also followed up on that comment: “A forensic excavation of the burn area was conducted, which resulted in the findings of several charred items that were consistent with personal items of Mackenzie Lueck.”
