Hardships are never easy, especially when it involves your own family. If you’re a celebrity, it’s even more difficult to navigate through the hard times because you’re forced to do it all with poise and grace with millions of people watching your every move.
During a recent interview, Marie Osmond chose to use the opportunity to spill out her heart and her true feelings concerning the drama and heartache her family has been facing. To many’s surprise, she left it all out on the table.
The 59-year-old sat down with PEOPLE to discuss details in her personal life and, inevitably, details about her family surfaced. As many know, as of late, the Osmond family is no stranger to heartache.
Marie stated: “It’s been an interesting year. My brother, Virl, had a stroke, my brother, Tom, had a quadruple bypass, Jimmy had a stroke, and Donny, of course, is having surgery.” From the sounds of it, the Osmond clan isn’t catching many breaks in the health department.
She continued by stating what has helped get her through this difficult season. “I’ve had a lot of loss in my life and difficult things. Everybody does, I’m not saying there’s any difference. But I have great faith.”
She also went on to talk about losing her 18-year-old son to suicide and how she was able to navigate through the heartbreaking loss. “When I lost my son, you know, those are the things that really bite and they determine who you are inside and what your belief structure is.”
She continued, “I just know that death is sort of a rebirth for me. They move on, and, even though we miss them here I know I’ll see them again. There’s no question in my mind. It’s tough, you know, but it’s okay. It’s okay.”
While seasons of trial and tribulation are enough to send a person to their knees in an instant, it’s comforting to know that Marie has chosen to cling to faith and hope despite any circumstance her family may face.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this time of sickness and injury!
