The Duchess of Sussex, formerly known as Meghan Markle, has been acting as peacemaker in her new Husband Prince Harry's family life. And her first project has been helping to mend the rift in the relationship between Harry and his father, Prince Charles.
You must have noticed that the two, father and son, have had a complicated relationship in the years since Princess Diana’s death in 1997, and Meghan has made it her mission to help the two regain a close, warm, father-son dynamic.
Last year in what can be viewed as a “thinly veiled stab at his dad Prince Charles” Prince Harry opened up about how horrible it was for him when his dad made him and brother William walk behind their mother’s coffin during her funeral procession.
Now that Harry is a married man and he and Meghan are setting their sights on starting a family of their own, the new Royal Wife has recognized that the two men need to work on their relationship.
Many have noted a dramatic change in how the two get on, and insiders say that it has everything to do with Meghan’s influence.
Prince Charles is said to be extremely fond of Meghan so he may be putting forth added effort for not only his son’s sake but also for that of his new daughter-in-law. And with grandchildren sure to be in the near future, he is playing it smart to mend any rifts before that happens.
Meghan and her mum, Doria Ragland are very close and the Duchess would love nothing more than to have her husband experience that type of closeness with his father. According to insiders “apparently ordered Prince Harry to make peace with his dad, Prince Charles.”
Meghan finds her new father-in-law to be “wonderful, welcoming, warm, hard-working, kind, and stable,” an insider told the Daily Mail and she has “made it clear that he should appreciate him and bond more.” It seems like wise advice for anyone, not just for Prince Harry!
After Diana died, Charles did his best to raise the boys, but he was so consumed by responsibility and his work obligations that there wasn’t a lot of time for them. That combined with the fact that Charles has a rather solitary personality, it often made it difficult for him to reach his boys in a way that could have made up for Diana’s absence.
Though there was never any question about Charles’ love for his boys, it was not always received by the young princes in a way that they might have preferred at that difficult time.
“That fractured family dynamic is something the former Suits star is determined to heal, especially after Prince Charles – who is said to adore Meghan – stepped in at the last minute to walk her down the aisle after her own father was unable to attend.”
It looks as though Meghan is just exactly what Harry needed in his life and if this is any indication of the good influence she has on him, then there are only positive things for the couple to look forward to in the future.
