It’s official! Meghan Markle is a has a new title!
When Meghan Markle met Prince Harry of Wales in 2016, the two hit it off instantly. After six months of secretly dating, the world came to know them as a true power couple. For the next year, they dated cross- country, but in the Fall of 2017, Meghan moved across the world to be with her royal boyfriend, and just a couple months later, they were engaged to be married.
The world was captivated with their relationship. Meghan- a very successful American television star, would enter into the Royal Family by marriage. On May 19th, 2018, the couple wed in the most iconic wedding of the century. On that day, Meghan Markle earned the title of the Duchess of Sussex.
Many wondered if because Meghan was marrying a prince, she would be a princess, but Queen Elizabeth gave her the Duchess title instead. This is also what happened to her sister-in-law, Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.
Just five months after their wedding, Harry and Meghan announced that they were expecting a baby in Spring 2019. On May 6th, 2019, after a highly anticipated pregnancy, it was confirmed that the Duchess of Sussex had given birth to a healthy baby boy. The couple named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten Windsor.
But on that day, Meghan earned more than the title of “Mom.” The Duchess of Sussex was officially named “Princess of the United Kingdom!”
The official title was announced on May 17th, 2019, when Archie’s birth certificate was announced. Fans were studded to read Meghan’s occupation as “Princess of the United Kingdom,” and many wondered if this would be her title and name.
And while we can’t say for sure, we believe Meghan will follow in Kate’s footsteps moving forward; she will hold the occupation of Princess of the United Kingdom, but she will hold the official title of Duchess of Sussex. Of course, only the Royal Family can confirm this!
I love Meghan’s title of Princess of the United Kingdom! It truly has a fairytale ring to it!
