One of country music’s most legendary female artists has found herself in the spotlight as of late, and it’s not in the form one would ever prefer.
Dixie Chick’s lead singer, Natalie Maines, has found herself amid a rather nasty custody battle with her estranged husband, actor Adrian Pasdar.
After a 17-year marriage, the duo regretfully chose to call it quits in 2017. Together, they share two children, a 17-year-old son named Jackson and a 14-year-old son named Beckett. Despite the floods of stress and heartache that accompanies divorce, one of the most devastating occurrences is when it deals with custody of children.
Unfortunately, in their particular situation, this has become the biggest problem thus far and reports of the newest claims and finally hit the fan.
According to Fox News: “Pasdar claims that he stepped away from his acting career to help raise the children since the split. As a result, he claims to have racked up $200,000 in debt, which exceeds his estimated income of $150,000 a year. He claims that he put her career first, opting to turn down acting work so that Maines could tour and perform and he could stay home raising their kids.”
After these accusations came flooding out, soon followed some preposterous demands from Pasdar.
Fox News states: “Pasdar has asked for an additional $16,427 in child support for their two sons. In addition, he’s reportedly seeking an additional $44,076 in spousal support per month. In total, that puts his requests to roughly $60,503 in monthly support payments that the Dixie Chicks rocker may have to pay as well as $350,000 in attorney’s fees.”
This is certainly not the situation Maines could have ever predicted to find herself in, but now she and her legal team must gear up and be prepared to be on the defensive. No matter how it turns out in the end, we do hope that it is a smooth and relatively drama-less situation for the children stuck in the middle of it all.
What do you think about this? Do you think his demands are justified or do you think he’s absolutely insane for his new demands?
