Thank goodness for social media!
If you’ve been a British Royal Family fan for any amount of time, you’ve likely been watching from afar over the channel of television, news, or tabloids. And while networks and tabloids crank out a lot of information about the Royal Family, it can be tricky to know what’s truth and what’s not.
In 2019, we live in a world that is utterly connected - all thanks to social media.
You can find nearly every major actor or actress online running their own social media account. Celebs from around the world share pictures and videos from formerly private areas their lives like intimate family moments, what their work looks like behind the scenes, and ordinary/everyday moments that we tend to forget stars have.
Recently, prestigious members of the Royal Family have been allowed access to run their own social media fans. Formerly, the luxury of operating a social media account as a Royal was frowned upon as it went against protocol.
One of the most adored Royals on social media is Princess Eugenie of York! Princess Eugenie is Queen Elizabeth’s granddaughter and Princes Andrew’s youngest daughter. Princess Eugenie runs and operates her own Instagram account as of March 8th, 2018. Each day, she shares personal content with her 633,000 fans.
The Princess’ Instagram account features everything from sweet moments with her family, to her interests (which, by the way, did you know Princess Eugenie has a secret obsession with the American show “Friends?”).
2018 was a very busy year for Princess Eugenie; she got engaged and married her long-time boyfriend, Jack Brooksbank, in October. Her Instagram features some of the most special moments from the year, including her engagement announcement and moments from her wedding ceremony and reception.
When news outlets announced that the Princess was engaged, it was on January 23rd, 2018. But thanks to her Instagram, Princess Eugenie revealed that she and Jack actually became engaged on January 1st, 2018!
Fans were shocked when Princess Eugenie snapped a sweet moment from the night she got engaged. The picture featured a sunset above some water with the words, “As 2018 draws to a close, I wanted to share some of my favorite moments…1st January 2018- Jack asked me to marry him!"
Fans were stunned to see the evening that the princess became engaged actually be New Years Day! It was so special to see a candid moment from such a huge night.
