It’s been made known that bride-to-be Meghan Markle has broken her fair share of rules since becoming engaged to Prince Harry. Who’s to blame her, though? She’s been on the fast track to a royal wedding and has a lot to catch up on before she says, “I do!”
While in retrospect, many of these rules have erred on the minor side of things, there is one rule that she’s strictly forbidden to break. This rule is that she isn’t allowed to wear tiaras until her wedding day. I think it’s rather appropriate, though, to debut your tiara on the most important day of your life!
Now comes the question as to how the tiara is selected. Contrary to what one might assume, the Queen will select one of her own tiaras and loan it to the bride for the day. When Kate Middleton married Prince William, Queen Elizabeth loaned her the Cartier Halo Scroll Tiara.
When Princess Diana married Prince Charles, she had the option to wear a tiara from the Queen but opted for an alternative. For sentimental purposes, she wore the Spencer Tiara that came from her family. This tiara was a wedding present to her grandmother and, since that day, all the Spencer women have worn it.
Now that Meghan is the upcoming bride-to-be, many wonder just which tiara she will wear. There are many breathtaking options to choose from so we know the selection won’t be an easy one. Will she go for the offering from the Queen, opt to wear one of Princess Diana’s crowns, or even have a new one made for this occasion?
My guess is that she will honor her late mother-in-law by wearing one of hers. Only time will tell just which will be selected. No matter the choice, she will look simply stunning either way. We cannot wait for the big day!
