Recall Issued After It Is Revealed 7,000 Pounds Of Meat Was Not Inspected Before Being Packaged

PFP Enterprises, LLC, who does business as Texas Meat Packers, based out of Fort Worth, Texas, has issued a recall after the Food Safety and Inspection Service discovered that they operated without an inspector present.

The problem was discovered on March 30, 2018, when Federal inspection personnel reviewed records at the establishment and discovered that on March 24, they operated without inspection.

As of this time, no adverse reactions have been tied to this incident, but since the food was not inspected, there is no way to know if it is truly safe or not. The products all bear the establishment number “EST. 34715” in the USDA inspection mark.

The products in question were sold in Alabama, Arkansas, Indiana, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin. Four different products are being recalled at this time.

Five pound vacuum-packed frozen packages of “BEEF SKIRT DICED FOR TACOS” with a case code of 1470 in the upper left-hand corner of the label and a packaging date of 03/24/18. Five pound vacuum-packed frozen packages of “PRE SEASONED BEEF FOR FAJITAS” with a case code of 36989, and a packaging date of 3/24/18 and a use-by date of 2/23/19.

Packages of varying weight “USDA CHOICE ANGUS BEEF, FAJITA SEASONED STEAK, BEEF FLANK STEAK FOR FAJITAS” with a packaging adate of 3/23/18 and 3/24/18 and an item code of 5678248261. Finally, varied weight packages of “USDA CHOICE ANGUS, FAJITA SEASONED STRIPS, BEEF FLANK STRIPS FOR FAJITAS” with a package date of 3/24/18 and a use or freeze-by date of 4/18 with the item code 567248253.

Please check your refrigerators and freezers immediately to check for any recalled product. If you find some, please dispose of it or return it to the store where you purchased it.
