That’s a wrap! The royal wedding of Prince Harry and American Meghan Markle drew quite the crowd as more than 29 million people tuned in live to watch the royal nuptials. While the day was televised and streamed around the world, the moments just after the cameras stopped rolling have finally surfaced and everyone is entirely obsessed.
On Saturday, May 19th, 2018, history was made when Prince Harry married American Meghan Markle. The couple’s wedding ceremony captivated the world; everyone from the page boys to The Queen expressed utter excitement throughout the day as it was truly a monumental moment in time.
The event was covered by media sources and news outlets from around the world. With cameras at nearly every angle, it felt as if you were there- even if you were tuning in from your living room!
But one thing that had everyone talking was the moment after the wedding; it seemed as if if the wedding party was just a dream as the entire event continued behind closed doors. Without cameras and press, the celebration was had in total privacy, leaving many fans to be left in the dark.
On Monday, May 21st, two days after the celebration of the year, Kensington Palace finally released what the world was surely waiting for: the official wedding portraits of the new Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The photos are one word: exquisite. Taken by Alexi Lubomirski, the same photographer who captured the couple’s love in their engagement photos, had the honor of capturing the wedding party on their wedding day.
The photos were taken in Green Drawing Room in the Queen’s home in Windsor Castle after the couple returned from their carriage processional. The first photo released is positively stunning as the bride and groom as surrounded by Harry’s parents, and grandparents, William and Kate, Meghan’s mother, Doria, and of course- their adorable page boys and bridesmaids.
The color scheme is absolutely magical; Doria and the Queen wore the same soft green while the bridesmaids held tightly to their wedding bouquets. The green wallpaper in the background created one of the most beautiful portraits.
The photos are the first official royal portraits to feature African Americans with Doria and Meghan. The photos are a perfect representation of the new family and they are done with such elegance and beauty.
