Thousand Attend Opening Day Of Royal Ascot, But All Eyes Are On Duchess Meghan As She Makes Her Stunning Debut

June 19, 2018

Meghan Markle made a beautiful debut at her first Royal Ascot along with her husband Prince Harry, Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles and wife Camilla, and the rest of the Royal Family. Missing were Prince Philip who retired from public life last August, and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. William has another royal duty and Kate is still on maternity leave.

Meghan made a pristine-looking arrival for the first day of the five-day racing event, wearing a button-down, shirt-collared Givenchy coat-dress, solid white except for a thin black belt at her waist and some black accents in her chapeau.

The Countess of Sussex arrived alongside Sophie the Duchess of Wessex. Sharing the royal chariot with the two ladies were their husbands: Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex; and Prince Edward, Duke of Wessex.

The Queen made a beautiful silhouette in her bright yellow coat and hat as she rode alongside daughter Anne, Princess Royal. Also attending were Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie.

Royal Ascot, the long-awaited ‘crown jewel’ of the racing season always makes a bold statement on its first day as everyone steps out in their very finest apparel.

The gentlemen looked quite dapper, decked out in top hats and tails, the ladies bringing a splash of color in their brightly-colored frocks. And let’s not forget about the most unforgettable head-wear atop the ladies’ heads! Certainly a Royal Ascot staple!!

In case you think that the only thing going on at the event is a bunch of wealthy ladies and gents parading around in their finery, you might want to keep in mind that there was a race or two going on as well. In fact, Prince Harry and Meghan had the honor of awarding the trophy for the winner of the St. James’ Palace Stakes!
