‘ER’ Star Shot And Killed By Police When A Routine Check Went Fatal; Prayers Needed For Family

A seemingly regular checkup took a turn on Thursday, August 30th, 2018 when South Pasadena police responded to a woman who was having seizures.

The landlord was concerned that her tenant, former ER star, Vanessa Marquez, after she had suffered some seizures. Knowing her tenant had a history with mental health issues and an eating disorder, the landlord called for help.

The South Pasadenan reported that three police and a mental health care professional arrived at Vanessa’s home to check in on her.

After spending more than an hour and a half trying to work with Vanessa, she reportedly became 'extremely uncooperative.'

Nearly 30 minutes after her difficult behavior, Vanessa retreated to her room where she emerged holding what appeared to be a semiautomatic handgun. She pointed the object directly at the officers to which they open fired at her.

Following the shots, it appeared  Vanessa Marquez had been killed by the police. She was 49. It was later learned that the object Vanessa had pointed at the officers was a BB gun.

Vanessa was best known for her work on the drama series, ER. She played nurse Wendy Goldman alongside George Clooney from 1994 to 1997.

Funeral arrangements have not been made, although fans and friends have expressed their heartbreak after hearing the devastating news.
