What Will The Queen Wear To Prince Harry’s Wedding? Her Beautiful Ensembles Throughout History Hint At Her Choice

The Queen has always been known as a fashion maven. In her conservative, always-proper way, she has stunned and delighted millions with her tasteful selections. Her Majesty has appeared at many weddings over the many decades of her reign and has never failed to “wow” in her beautiful and colorful ensembles.

With her beloved grandson, Harry’s, nuptials only a month away, the whole world is wondering what the adored Sovereign will don as she witnesses the blessed event on May 19th.

In honor of Queen Elizabeth’s many decades of fashion-forward costumes, we present a chronology of Her Majesty’s wedding couture through the ages:

October 24, 1931

The Queen was still known as "Princess "Elizabeth" when the five-year-old served as a bridesmaid in this 1931 wedding between Lady May Cambridge and Captain Henry Abel Smith.

April 6, 1946

Again as a bridesmaid. This time Elizabeth serves in the wedding of the Honorable Mrs. Vicary Gibbs and Captain Honorable A.G.V. Elphinstone.

November 20, 1947

The best wedding appearance of all! Elizabeth's big day, marrying Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

July 22, 1948

The Princess sisters Elizabeth and Margaret at the wedding of Lord Derby and Lady Isabel Milles-Lade.

June 1, 1954

Now Queen, she and husband, Prince Philip attend the wedding of Princess Diana's parents, John Althorp and Frances Roche. One day they would be related by marriage! 

July 25, 1956

Queen Elizabeth makes an appearance at the wedding of lady-in-waiting, Kathryn Stanley to Sir John Dugdale. At her side is her sister, Princess Margaret.

May 6, 1960

The Queen Mother, Elizabeth, accompanies Queen Elizabeth II to the wedding of their granddaughterer and sister, respectively. This was for Margaret's first marriage, to Antony Armstrong-Jones.

October 20, 1966

Young Prince Andrew was by his mother's side as she appeared at the wedding of Alexandra Anastasia Phillips and James Hamilton (Marquess of Hamilton.)

November 14, 1973

Here the Queen waves to the crowd from the balcony of Buckingham Palace on the occasion of her only daughter (Princess Royal) Anne's  to Captain Mark Phillips."

July 29, 1981

Her Majesty the Queen chose a robin's egg blue for the wedding of her first-born son and heir-to-the-Throne, Prince Charles to Lady Diana Spencer.

July 30, 1988

The Queen wore a bright yellow print dress to her godson, James Ogilvy's and Julia Rawlinson's wedding.

December 12, 1992

Here we see Prince Philip, Prince Charles, Queen Elizabeth II, and the Queen Mother leaving the wedding of Princess Anne to Commander Tim Laurence.

October 08, 1993

Her Majesty looked 'Pretty in Pink' when she appeared at the wedding of Viscount Linley and Serena Stanhope.

July 01, 1995

Lavender was a perfect choice for Elizabeth II at the wedding of Crown Prince Pavlos of Greece.

November 07, 1998

The Queen looked stunning in bright yellow as she attended the wedding of Timothy Knatchbull and Isabella Norman with her daughter, Princess Anne.

June 19, 1999

Her hat may have stolen the show when she attended her youngest son Edward's marriage to Sophie Rhys-Jones who is now known as The Countess of Wessex.

November 06, 2004

The Queen chose regal purple for the wedding of Edward van Cutsem and Lady Tamara Grosvenor, which she attended with her husband Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh.

April 9, 2005

Elizabeth II pulls off a white coat and hat at the wedding of Prince Charles to second wife, Camilla Parker Bowles.

May 17, 2008

Taupe with gold embellishment was a perfect choice at St. George's Chapel for the wedding of grandson Peter Phillips and Autumn Kelly. Here we see Prince Harry giving his grandmother a kiss on the cheek as grandfather Prince Philip looks on.

April 29, 2011

When grandson Prince William married Kate Middleton, the Queen went for a lighter shade of yellow. Here, she and husband Prince Philip wave to their adoringsubjectss from the balcony of Buckingham Palace.

Her Majesty looked absolutely gorgeous in this lovely english rose ensemble for the wedding of her granddaughter Zara Phillips to Mike Tindall in Scotland.

Of course, we will just have to wait and see what the Queen will wear for the biggest day in Prince Harry’s and Meghan Markle’s lives - but a few things are certain: she will look classy, dignified, colorful, and beautiful - and all eyes will be on her...after the bride, of course. We can hardly wait!
