Aquariums are very popular in homes today because of their tranquility, and ability to calm us down no matter the day we’ve had. Full of colorful fish and the bubbling of the water, they can be extremely mesmerizing to watch. However, they also require quite a bit of maintenance and care and they can be quite the hassle if you don’t know what you’re doing.
One saltwater aquarium owner had fallen a bit behind in cleaning his tank, and when the algae had begun to take over, he knew it was time to step in and handle the problem. As he begun the process of cleaning it, he stirred up the sand and awoke something that had been hiding beneath the substrate.
A 1.2-meter long bristle worm erupted from beneath the sand and began to scamper around the tank. These pests are known to kill aquarium inhabitants, so they were left with no choice but to try and remove this fascinating creature. When they attempted to grab it up in their tongs, it took off running, and even detached part of its tail! Hopefully, this will serve as a reminder to all of us to make sure we clean our fish tanks - before we end up with one of these little buggers!
