We don’t like to think about it, but animals are often subjected to unspeakable horrors at the hands of those who are supposed to care for them. At the same time, we rejoice when we hear about the amazing rescues of these precious creatures.
Brimley is a Himalayan cat who was used as a stud by a breeder who did not care for his well-being at all. When Brimley developed an eye infection, the breeder had his eyes sewn shut instead of treating the infection. Eventually, Brimley was relinquished to Seattle Persian and Himalayan Rescue. At that time, his eyes were covered in so much gunk that it had spread to his chest. It was so bad, in fact, that they could not tell that his eyes were so sewn at first. Here’s where the story takes a positive turn. With gentle loving care, the rescuers were able to get Brimley healthy again - without even needing surgery!
When Brimley was finally healthy again, the team was faced with the challenge of finding him a forever home, where he would never be forced to suffer again. Even though he was a potential special-needs cat, they decided to let him go to a first-time pet owner. For Brimley’s new owner, it was love-at-first-sight, a perfect match right from the start.
Brimley’s dad decided to create an Instagram account where this fluffy cat could be shown-off to the world, and where they could raise awareness about unscrupulous breeders. As Brimley’s fame has grown over time, he’s been given the amazing opportunity to advocate for the rescue that saved his life and the lives of so many other cats who had suffered the way he did. This sweet little guy has never let the rough start to his life hold him back; this adorably cuddly cat is now living, happily, with his dad.
