It’s not often that a member of the British Royal Family “spills the tea” on matters concerning themselves, but it has happened and fans are shocked to the core.
Prince William is no stranger to the limelight. From the moment he was conceived, the world knew everything about him and couldn’t wait for the day he would become the King of England. He’s seen quite a bit of things during his 36 years, both good and bad.
Growing up in the eye of the public can do one of two things to a person: cause them to spiral out of control at one point or another or to give them a steady, silent strength one could only muster being in circumstances such as this.
The family as a whole has done a very good job at keeping tight-lipped on as many “petty” and “secretive” things as possible, doing all they can to protect the integrity of the crown and all that the family stands for.
Every now and again, though, a tidbit or two of unexpected information leaks out of the palace, and fans always gobble it up instantly. Many believe it’s partly due to the fact that these spillages of information make the family more relatable and more, well, human.
Recently, Prince William took it upon himself to put himself front and center of the firing squad by admitting something he “had never disclosed to anyone” before. Much to his surprise, this bold admittance gained him more respect than he ever could have dreamt.
During an interview, he opened up about his role as a father. “It’s very daunting how tiny they are when they first arrive. They are so fragile and everything’s so tiny. Sometimes you do feel like if you move them around too much they’re going to break almost. But, of course, they don’t.”
He then continued to elaborate on the toll becoming a father has had on him. “Once the lack of sleep starts setting in, the stress levels shoot up. From a young age, you’re taught to have a vision, have a plan, have a career. And, all of a sudden, babies come along and you have to start thinking about a whole lot more.”
He then added, “I think one of the things is, ladies are a lot more giving. And honestly, I think a lot more generous whereas I think guys get into making a success of whatever we are trying to do. We get into a rhythm and then children come along and then for us it’s like, ‘Which way do I go now?’”
He concluded his thoughts by saying, “I always wondered how that affects the new father’s mental health. Because it’s such a big change that your whole life goes one way and then suddenly you’re taught that you’ve got to adapt as much as possible.”
If fatherhood has affected him in any way I think it’s made him more compassionate and loving not only toward children but to fellow fathers as well. He certainly has a greater respect for those in that role because he’s experienced it three times over. If you ask me, it appears as though he’s doing a mighty fine job of it!
