Police in Garden Grove, California, were called to investigate a white van that had been parked outside of a CVS for days on end. The van was backed into a parking spot near a grassy median. The windows were covered by blankets and a sunscreen, and a passing woman called the cops after noticing a foul smell coming from the van.
Inside, police found the bodies of four victims. The family inside included two young children who both appeared to be less than four years of age. Police are not entirely sure what the cause of their death was, but they believe that there was no foul play. One of the current theories is that the grassy area had obstructed the vehicle’s exhaust and they had suffocated on carbon monoxide.
The family are believed to have been homeless and had been camping in the spot for days before their passing. The officers say that this is one of the saddest investigations that they have had to be part of. Detectives are investigating the crime and hope to be able to close this case soon, giving the family the proper burial they deserve.
